Attitudes of K-12 School Librarians and Teachers Toward ChatGPT and Other Artificial Intelligence Tools

Description: A study of 71 school librarians and 111 teachers examined attitudinal changes toward AI tools following hands-on professional development. Using pre- and post-survey methodology, researchers found significant positive shifts in educator perspectives after three-hour training sessions. Initial concerns about academic integrity (84.4% of participants) transformed into recognition of AI's teaching potential. Three major changes emerged: viewing AI as a teaching resource rather than a cheating tool, increased confidence in implementation, and growing enthusiasm for AI's instructional possibilities. Participants discovered valuable applications beyond ChatGPT for reducing workload while maintaining educational quality. The findings demonstrate how targeted professional development can effectively address concerns and support AI integration in K-12 education.
